This fun rhythm composition activity that will spice up your music lessons! Students can create their own 4 beat Pirate themed rhythm using rhythm based characters and objects from the ballet. They can practice saying their rhythm while keeping a steady beat. Use as a full group activity or in centers!

Advanced composition kit (quarter note, eighth notes, half note, eighth quarter eighth notes, four sixteenth notes, eighth two sixteenth notes, and two sixteenth eighth notes) in color & black and white with options for regular and stick notation
Rhythm words:
quarter note: hat, map, sword
eighth notes: island, pirate, palm tree
half note: ship (said over two beats)
sixteenth notes: talking parrot
eighth and two sixteenth notes: Argh! Matey!
two sixteenth and eighth notes: treasure chest
eighth quarter eighth: sailing ship
